Dancers age is based off of their age before January 1st
Minis 5 – 8
Juniors 9 – 12
Teens and Seniors 13 +
Intermediate Level （less than 4 hours a week）
Advanced Level （5 or more hours a week）
Ballet – technique with classical movement, reflecting a ballet style. Use of pointe shoes is permitted.
Acrobatic – style of dance with acrobatics, emphasizing flexibility and aerial tricks.
Contemporary – routine that draws from modern, lyrical and ballet movements.
Lyrical – style of Jazz & Ballet technique demonstrating clean, classical lines while emphasising emotional interpretation of the lyrics in the music.
Musical Theater – style that interprets a song from a Musical, Movie or Broadway show.
Hiphop/Street – style that demonstrates hip-hop or street type moves.
Jazz – technique with up–tempo music. Maximum of 3 acrobatic skills permitted.
Tap – Any recorded tap sounds on the music track will be a deduction of 10 points. (Clogging routines should not be categorized as a tap entry but under “Open”)
Open – style that demonstrates any dance style or combination of dance styles. Examples include aero-gymnastics, ballroom, novelty, character, and clogging. Routines containing more than 3 gymnastic/acro tricks must be entered in this category.
Titanium 291 – 300 points
Elite Diamond 281 – 290
Diamond 271 – 280
Gold 261 – 270
High Silver 260 & below
Out of 30 points – Techniques, Transition, Placement, Staging and movement
Out of 20 points – Appropriate skills for the dancer and level
Out of 20 points – Performance quality
Out of 10 points – Cleanliness of the performance and transitions
Out of 15 points – Artistic Expression
Out of 5 points – Choreography
All sized props are allowed but you must note if you have a prop on your registration so we can adjust the necessary time to make sure your props are secure.
Dancers must be registered to compete or dance in the competition/ convention.
No outstanding balances are allowed
Entry fees are NON-REFUNDABLE. NO EXCEPTIONS.
You must treat the staff and other studios with respect, we have no tolerance for poor behavior.
Dancers are not limited to the amount of solos they may compete but only one can place in the overalls.
At Are You Ready, we value loyalty to studios. We do not allow teachers or studio owners to solicit dancers from other studios at any of our events. The first offense will result in a warning. If any additional offenses occur, the studio will not be permitted to attend any future Are You Ready event until future notice.
