Ballet – technique with classical movement, reflecting a ballet style. Use of pointe shoes is permitted.

Acrobatic – style of dance with acrobatics, emphasizing flexibility and aerial tricks.

Contemporary – routine that draws from modern, lyrical and ballet movements.

Lyrical – style of Jazz & Ballet technique demonstrating clean, classical lines while emphasising emotional interpretation of the lyrics in the music.

Musical Theater – style that interprets a song from a Musical, Movie or Broadway show.

Hiphop/Street – style that demonstrates hip-hop or street type moves.

Jazz – technique with up–tempo music. Maximum of 3 acrobatic skills permitted.

Tap – Any recorded tap sounds on the music track will be a deduction of 10 points. (Clogging routines should not be categorized as a tap entry but under “Open”)

Open – style that demonstrates any dance style or combination of dance styles. Examples include aero-gymnastics, ballroom, novelty, character, and clogging. Routines containing more than 3 gymnastic/acro tricks must be entered in this category.
